Social Media & Community Outreach Assistant (Entry Level)
We’re seeking a detail-oriented, team-minded Social Media & Community Outreach Assistant to help us manage digital communications and support community engagement efforts across our markets.
This entry-level position will work within our existing social media structure, using our proprietary reputation management and scheduling platforms supplied by our sister company, Hometown Digital Marketing Agency—a leader in digital strategy known for best-in-class results, tools, and trends.
You’ll collaborate with our team to help maintain a consistent, engaging online presence while also supporting community outreach through organized communications and press release gathering.
Responsibilities
- Use our approved scheduling platform to post and monitor social content.
- Assist in gathering and organizing press releases, announcements, and community news.
- Support outreach efforts by typing and sending emails, making follow-up calls, and logging contacts.
- Help organize incoming content from community partners (photos, flyers, event info).
- Monitor public-facing comments/messages and assist with routing responses.
- Provide general support to the editorial, marketing, and circulation teams as needed Ideal.
Candidate
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortable using technology, scheduling tools, and templates.
- Professional, friendly, and comfortable reaching out on behalf of a respected publication.
- Able to follow structured systems and deadlines.
- Willing to learn and take initiative in a support-focused role.
