Role Overview:
Ready to get out in the community, meet people, and promote a newspaper that matters? Join us as a Consumer Sales & Marketing Specialist to boost subscriptions, raise brand awareness, and represent our publication at local events, festivals, and special promotions. This position will also be instrumental in supporting and growing readership across our 11 additional locations in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote Subscriptions & Brand Awareness: Plan and attend promotional events, festivals, and community activities to promote print and digital subscriptions.

• Community Engagement: Coordinate giveaways, raffles, and outreach activities to build stronger ties with the community.

• Collaborate with Internal Teams: Work closely with circulation and marketing teams to create marketing materials that will drive subscription growth.

• Increase Reach & Readership: Think outside the box to find innovative ways to grow household reach and readership across multiple markets.

• Support Subscriber Retention: Conduct proactive outreach, handle customer service callbacks, and resolve delivery issues to ensure every reader gets the best experience possible.

• Enhance Digital Presence: Support digital audience growth by driving online engagement, promoting website features, and encouraging digital subscriptions.

• Magazine Promotion: Assist with the circulation and promotion of our quarterly magazine, distributed across multiple states.

• Vendor Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendor partners, ensure single-copy locations are stocked and well-displayed, and identify new vendor opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Energetic & Self-Motivated: A passion for engaging with the community, promoting a trusted local brand, and connecting with readers.

• Excellent Communication Skills: Comfortable speaking with people and representing our brand at events, festivals, and in outreach efforts.

• Social Media Savvy: Skilled at using social media, flyers, and other community engagement tools to promote subscriptions.

• Flexible Schedule: Able to work some evenings or weekends to attend local events and festivals.

• Strong Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented and great at tracking trends, managing promotions, and keeping outreach efforts on schedule.

• Passionate About Local News: A deep interest in local journalism and building community connections.

• Reliable Transportation: Must have reliable transportation for travel across regions.

• Geographically Familiar: Comfortable navigating local areas, retail environments, and vendor locations.
