Estate Planning Paralegal
Location: Cookeville, Tennessee
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, In-Office
Guffey Law is seeking a highly motivated, versatile, and detail-oriented Estate Planning Paralegal to join our Cookeville office. In this role, you will provide essential support to our attorneys and clients throughout the estate planning process. We are looking for a candidate who shares our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our valued clients.
Responsibilities
Estate Planning Support:
- Draft estate planning documents, including wills, powers of attorney, living wills, healthcare directives, and ancillary documents.
Trust Administration:
- Manage trust administration tasks, including funding trusts, tracking distributions, maintaining accurate records, and preparing trust accountings.
Legal Research and Analysis:
- Conduct legal research on trust and estate matters, staying current on relevant laws, regulations, and case law.
- Review and analyze provisions of wills and trusts.
- Collaborate with attorneys and professionals to discuss cases and projects.
Client and Advisor Communication:
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, provide updates, and facilitate document execution scheduling.
- Liaise with financial advisors to gather information and share status updates.
Case Management:
- Develop and maintain expense records and billable hours for specific matters.
- Organize and maintain files, documents, and correspondence.
- Monitor estate and trust administration developments and ensure timely updates.
Team Collaboration and Administrative Tasks:
- Collaborate with law firm personnel to ensure task completion.
- Prepare and file deeds with the Register of Deeds office.
Qualifications
- Required: High School Diploma.
- Preferred: Professional degree or certification.
- Experience in estates and trusts with a law firm, accounting firm, or bank trust department is a plus.
- Proficiency in:
- Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Adobe PDF).
- Google Suite (Mail, Chat, Share Drives).
- Clio CRM software (preferred).
- Tennessee Notary certification is a plus.
