Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation (UCEMC) is looking for a Staking Technician to join our team in Cookeville, TN. Staking Technicians play a key role in designing and planning electrical services for our members.
Job Summary
- Responsible for investigating, designing, surveying, inspecting, and staking electric distribution lines in accordance with UCEMC construction and clearance codes and construction guidelines in order to obtain the most efficient and effective system design.
- Prepare staking sheets and cost estimates for new services, security lights, removal of idle services, service change-outs, line moves and system improvements.
- Develops and obtains easement and right-of-way documentation, conducts deed searches, identifies owners, secures cooperation and permission for the construction and maintenance of electrical facilities, assists in preparing and maintaining system maps and database, and will work with new and existing members, developers, and contractors on a daily basis.
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent is required, preferably with technical training in surveying and CAD techniques.
- Must have a strong knowledge of standard office computer software tools such as Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with ESRI/GIS and/or CAD mapping software preferred but not required.
- Must possess strong phone, oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to read schematics.
- Must have ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, must be able to thrive in a constantly changing environment. • Knowledge of and ability to use survey equipment, field equipment, Trimble, etc. is preferred
- Math skills, to include basic algebra, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Successful completion of an approved staking school will be required after employment.
- Valid Class D Tennessee Driver’s License (or ability to obtain)
